At Strategic Insurance Agency Alliance (SIAA), making a difference in people’s lives is part of the company’s mission and culture.
“We have cultivated a culture where employees can learn, grow, and flourish,” says Julie Braley, chief people officer. “Leaders within our organization are responsible for understanding the talent in their teams and providing growth opportunities that allow team members to gain exposure within the organization.”
Employees at SIAA can participate in mentorship programs, strategic objective teams, and executive-led lunch and learn sessions about new facets of the business. Career development is individualized, with leaders working closely with team members to align growth opportunities to their strengths and aspirations.
SIAA’s flexible work policies reflect its people-first mindset. Employees benefit from a hybrid schedule, summer hours, 16 hours of paid volunteer time annually, and uncapped sick time. Regular town halls, OKR (Objectives and Key Results) updates, and direct executive engagement ensure transparency and inclusion in decision-making
Employee recognition is also woven into daily operations. From “Shout Outs” in Microsoft Teams to over $50,000 in spot bonuses and $58,000 in integration bonuses in 2024, SIAA doesn’t let great work go unnoticed. All employees who do not receive an annual bonus as part of their total compensation plan still receive a holiday bonus.
Professional development is another key priority. Whether it’s industry certifications, leadership mentoring, or $5,250 in annual tuition reimbursement, SIAA ensures its team is empowered and informed. At its Fall Business Meeting, SIAA held a Women in Leadership in Insurance panel discussion on ways to elevate women in the industry. The company incorporates DiSC personality assessments to help employees understand their strengths and how best to collaborate.

For 27 years, Business NH Magazine has recognized businesses that go out of their way to create engaging workplaces and understand that fulfilled employees are more productive.
A recent report from Gallup found employee engagement globally dropped in 2024—only the second time in the past 12 years. Engagement among managers took a big hit as they face new daunting challenges.
When your managers aren’t happy, your workforce isn’t too far behind. Finding ways to engage employees and developing cultures that meet these new challenges is imperative. Who better to turn to for answers than those with employees reporting high engagement? The September issue of Business NH Magazine celebrates delves into and celebrates the practices of this year’s Best Companies to Work For in New Hampshire,” says Executive Editor Matt Mowry.
