Wire Belt Company of America lives by its core values of family, integrity, innovation, ownership, and fun. Monthly company rallies include a “Hey, Did You Know?” segment where employees share personal and professional milestones, everything from attaining U.S. citizenship to celebrating a wedding anniversary. The rallies also include a “Thank You Moment,” where employees are encouraged to stand up and recognize their coworkers.
Fun is a core value and each month brings something new: summer BBQs on the patio, Pie Day, food trucks, and field trips. The company hosts an annual Employee versus Management Challenge, which has featured tug-of-war over a mud pit, relay races, office Olympics, dodgeball, and more. Wire Belt offers a year-end Christmas bonus to all employees equal to one week’s pay, and also a profit-sharing program.
Every work anniversary is acknowledged with a personalized card from leadership and on milestone anniversaries (every five years) employees choose from a catalog of gifts. Once an employee reaches 25 years of service, the company honors them by hanging a personalized banner in the factory. There are now 32 banners hanging from the rafters. Wire Belt also offers a sabbatical for every 10 years of employment with an additional paid two weeks off during their anniversary year.
The company offers a 9/80 schedule where employees work 80 hours across nine days over a two-week period, gaining a three-day weekend every other week. Wire Belt has a diverse workforce that includes at least six languages spoken and celebrates this with an annual Diversity Day where employees share food and stories from their heritage.
Wire Belt also offers a shared gardening space, paid time off for cancer screenings, and 100% tuition reimbursement. It is little wonder why they have less than 2% employee turnover.
