Top Employee Engagement Survey Measures: I know what my organization is trying to achieve strategically: 93% agree. My manager respects my work life balance: 94% agree

This national traveling nurse and allied health staffing firm has built a vibrant, values-driven culture where employees are empowered to make a meaningful difference, not only in the lives of patients but in their own lives and communities.

“Our mission is rooted in three powerful tenets: Connecting people, improving lives, and giving back,” says Aram Hampoian, president and CEO. “We are dedicated to a common purpose greater than ourselves.”

Core’s leadership also listens. Using weekly check-ins, an employee engagement platform, and bi-annual engagement surveys, staff are invited to shape policy. The impact is real: one recent veteran-focused charity drive raised over $11,000, inspired entirely by employee input.

Those weekly check-ins occur on 15Five, an employee engagement platform where employees share weekly wins and challenges, rate how they’re feeling at work, and respond to poll questions. The bi-annual engagement surveys cover such areas as workload, compensation, work-life balance, cross-functional relationships, and psychological safety, and led to a change in the paid time off program to provide better coverage when employees are out.

Perhaps most telling is that many employees build entire careers here. One senior executive started as a receptionist more than two decades ago. Today, she’s helping lead the company forward.

For those working from home, the company provides laptops and a stipend to set up a home office, as well as monthly utility reimbursements to cover the costs of internet, electric, and cell phone.

Core Medical has a “club culture.” Through Club CoreMed, the company provides an all-expenses-paid vacation for top performers (usually somewhere tropical). Its Culture Club is an employee-led committee focused on wellness, social engagement, DEI initiatives, and charitable giving.

Business NH Magazine named 27 businesses as the 2025 Best Companies to Work For in NH and inducted seven companies into the competition's Hall of Fame.

For 27 years, Business NH Magazine has recognized businesses that go out of their way to create engaging workplaces and understand that fulfilled employees are more productive.

A recent report from Gallup found employee engagement globally dropped in 2024—only the second time in the past 12 years. Engagement among managers took a big hit as they face new daunting challenges.

When your managers aren’t happy, your workforce isn’t too far behind. Finding ways to engage employees and developing cultures that meet these new challenges is imperative. Who better to turn to for answers than those with employees reporting high engagement? The September issue of Business NH Magazine celebrates delves into and celebrates the practices of this year’s Best Companies to Work For in New Hampshire,” says Executive Editor Matt Mowry.
