At Cohen Closing & Title, company culture isn’t an afterthought—it’s a way of life that begins before a new hire walks through the door. Every new employee receives a personalized welcome box filled with branded swag, a handwritten note, and the Cohen Culture Book—a guide that outlines the firm’s values, employee benefits, favorite local spots, and even where to find coffee.
President Kelly Cohen is known for thoughtful gestures that make employees feel valued—from surprise team lunches to birthday deliveries, including remote staff.
Philanthropy is woven into the company’s DNA. Each employee receives two days of paid volunteer time per year, and the team frequently engages in group service projects. The company sponsors a new nonprofit selected by the employees every two months, offering both marketing support and a cash donation. Last year, Cohen donated nearly $40,000 and employees contributed over 300 hours to community service.
But it’s not all work and no play. From Friendsgiving to Easter egg hunts and Halloween costume contests, celebrations are part of the culture. The summer party welcomes employees and their families with poolside games and branded gifts like Ray-Bans, YETIs, beach towels and bluetooth speakers. At the holiday party, everyone spins a prize wheel with rewards ranging from gift cards to extra paid time off.
Cohen Closing is also deeply committed to inclusion. Through a partnership with the Melmark School of New England, the company hosts students with special needs weekly to help them gain workplace experience and life skills. They also partner with MY TURN to help individuals, regardless of circumstance, access employment opportunities.

For 27 years, Business NH Magazine has recognized businesses that go out of their way to create engaging workplaces and understand that fulfilled employees are more productive.
A recent report from Gallup found employee engagement globally dropped in 2024—only the second time in the past 12 years. Engagement among managers took a big hit as they face new daunting challenges.
When your managers aren’t happy, your workforce isn’t too far behind. Finding ways to engage employees and developing cultures that meet these new challenges is imperative. Who better to turn to for answers than those with employees reporting high engagement? The September issue of Business NH Magazine celebrates delves into and celebrates the practices of this year’s Best Companies to Work For in New Hampshire,” says Executive Editor Matt Mowry.
