New England Cancer Specialists Open in Portsmouth

New England Cancer Specialists (NECS), a regional medical oncology group with three locations in Maine, has opened a new cancer care facility in Portsmouth.

The facility is located in a space previously occupied and operated by Portsmouth Regional Hospital and, according to a statement, many staff members from the Portsmouth Regional Hospital oncology team, including Dr. Yoko Fukuda, will be joining NECS.

“NECS has built the largest and deepest medical oncology group in Northern New England,” says Portsmouth Regional Hospital CEO Dean Carucci. “Their physicians have trained at the finest institutions across the U.S. and around the world and are nationally recognized for their expertise. We are confident in entrusting our Seacoast hematology and oncology patients to NECS’ care and we look forward to caring for these patients as we continue to grow our comprehensive surgical oncology program.”

In addition to a variety of cancer and infusion therapies, the new facility in Portsmouth offers patients wraparound support, personalized financial advocacy, genetic counseling, and palliative care.

“We are proud to bring our services to the people of Portsmouth and the Seacoast,” says NECS Medical Director Dr. Devon Evans. “Our five decades of experience in leading-edge cancer care all come down to making sure we do everything we can for every patient we see."

“I would like to thank the team at Portsmouth Regional Hospital for working with us to expand access to the highest quality care for patients,” says NECS President Dr. Chiara Battelli.” We’re very excited about the opportunity to bring our team-based care model to the residents of Portsmouth and New Hampshire.”
