Artisan Chocolate Shop Opens for Breakfast in Downtown Manchester

Published Monday Jul 21, 2014

Espresso and cappuccino from Italy, fresh croissants inspired by France and hot mallorca sandwiches from Puerto Rico are on Dancing Lion Chocolate’s breakfast menu, which launched last week. When the shop opens at 7 a.m., guests are enjoying these treats along with the usual selection of drinking chocolate, biscotti, pastries and tea.

“Our senior chocolatier, Samantha Downing, came to me one day with the idea of serving a light, European-style breakfast,” said owner Richard Tango-Lowy. “And she’s right – our café’s drink and food selection is a perfect addition to the community for people who want something different to start their day.”

Dancing Lion Chocolate is the number one rated restaurant on TripAdvisor.com for Manchester. To accommodate the new breakfast meny, the restaurant will adjust its hours: the shop will be open from Monday from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday will remain open during their current hours.

“We’ve always been more than a chocolate shop. We’re chocolatiers who find new and interesting ways to bring out the flavors in chocolate,” said Tango-Lowy. “Breakfast is simply an extension of what we do every single day.”

Started in 2007 by Master Chocolatier Richard Tango-Lowy, Dancing Lion Chocolate opened the doors to its first artisan chocolate shop and café in Mancheste in 2011. Since then, DLC has become the destination shop for “chocolate as art” – an art that encompasses flavor, commissioned painted and sculpted chocolate, and one-of-a-kind bonbons and bars. The café serves espresso, drinking chocolate, croissants, Zen brownies and other baked goods, and is a popular meeting place for business people, students and artists alike.
