Work Where You Play

Published Friday Aug 8, 2008

You love vacationing in NHhave you ever thought about working here? That's the question posed on the new Work Where You Play employment site at www.VisitNH.gov.

The Division of Travel and Tourism Development (DTTD), in partnership with the Division of Economic Development, has just launched Work Where You Play to reach out to a previously untapped market of job seekers the millions of individuals who visit NH each year. By targeting an audience that is already interested in New Hampshire as a vacation destination, we hope to bring more qualified workers into the state, says Alice DeSouza, director of DTTD.

New Hampshire Division of Economic Development director Michael Vlacich says, By making job search information readily available to potential visitors, we're opening the door for workforce development and business growth. This is a great new way to not only encourage visitors, but to build our labor force in a creative way.

We had been thinking about this for awhile, how can we work together and turn visitors to New Hampshire into workers, says Tai Freligh, communications manager for DTTD. Freligh says they began in April with 12 listed businesses. There are now 25 participating companies including some in hospitality, and the department is pushing communities to spread the word. This is not a job board, but a springboard to give access to companies and provide a link to their employment page, Freligh says.
