Why the 150th Employee Is Important

The dynamics of companies change fundamentally when they exceed roughly 150 people. Flat structures without hierarchy no longer create cohesiveness, people no longer know everyone else and staffers are forced to become more specialized.  It's a tipping point noted by evolutionary psychology professor Robin Dunbar and recognized as a challenge at Gore-Tex and Netflix.
