Successful fundraising efforts allow New Heights to invest in adventure programs.

In the Spotlight: New Heights, in Portsmouth, raised $100,000 to match $50,000 challenge grants from the Foundation for Seacoast Health and Thomas W. Haas Fund of the NH Charitable Foundation. A late fall fundraising push combined with an event at LizFit Fitness in Portsmouth raised almost $35,000. New Heights Development Director Lee Frank says the community responded in generously. The challenge was issued last spring and was met by the fall, according to Frank. He noted that 61 percent of donors who helped meet the challenge were first-time donors, a fact he hopes bodes well as the organization continues to expand its programming and reach into the community. Founded in 1987, New Heights provides experiential learning programs that range from adventure to STEAM.

Market Square Architects PLLC, located in Portsmouth, hired Phillip Saltmarsh as a project manager. Saltmarsh worked in the Seacoast for the past eight years on projects including the Great Bay Kids facility in Exeter and the Monarch School in Rochester.

Coldwell Banker Linwood Real Estate has added Brenda Corliss-Simon to its sales force in Franconia. Corliss-Simon is a real estate investor with properties in NH, Vermont and Massachusetts.

Gilbert Oriol has been named Broker of the Year for 2017 by New Hampshire Business Sales in the Main Street sales category. Oriol, a resident of Auburn, sold six businesses during the year ranging from assisted living facilities to landscape maintenance firms located throughout the state from the Lakes Region to the Seacoast and Southern NH. Four of the businesses were sold with related real estate.

Franklin Savings Bank honored three employees with a 2017 Vision Award, a distinction presented each year to individuals who make a difference with their customers and co-workers by epitomizing the bank’s vision. This year’s recipients are Nancy Watson, branch manager, Taylor D’Italia, marketing specialist, and Douglas Morin, facilities manager. The awards were given at the bank’s annual employee recognition night.

Concord Hospital Trust, the philanthropic arm of the hospital, is accepting applications to the Concord Hospital Trust Scholarship Fund for nursing and allied health students.

With approximately $35,000 awarded annually, scholarships typically range from $1,000-$3,000 and are awarded based on financial need, academic merit, personal character and other criteria. Students who have lived within the hospital’s primary service area for more than one year or who graduated from a high school within the service area, or who are employed by Concord Hospital, are eligible to apply.

Dermatology and Skin Health, in Dover, has opened a second location. Dr. Gary Mendese has been treating patients part-time at Apex Health in Peabody, Mass. for several years. The Peabody location will now serve as a second location for the practice and provide patients with two places to receive dermatological care.

Gregg Mikolaities, PE, has opened August Consulting, PLLC, in Rye, after the successful transition of the sale of Appledore Engineering, Inc., which Mikolaities cofounded in 1987. August Consulting provides strategic real estate development and business consulting services, as well as expert testimony and peer review services. Mikolaities has more than 35 years of planning, permitting, design and construction experience for all types of projects.

MI-BOX of Central New Hampshire is adding Western NH to its expanding service area. The expansion allows the company to service northern, central and western NH including Keene and Peterborough. MI-BOX of Central NH offers portable self-storage units which can be delivered to home or business locations through a level lift system, allowing for ground-level loading without the need for ramps or steps.
