Short of Workers, Fast-Food Restaurant Turn to Robots

Flippy, the hamburger-making robot, is back at the Pasadena location of the burger chain CaliBurger

John Miller, chief executive and founder of CaliBurger, tells the Wall Street Journal that he finds it harder to find employees these days. His solution is Flippy, a robot that turns the burgers and cleans the hot, greasy grill.

Flippy is the creation of Miso Robotics. The company convinced CaliBurger that a $100,000 robot could take the place of short-order cooks, who often quit after just working a few weeks because it's so hot in the kitchen.
