Tamworth Distilling Releases Skiklubben Aquavit

Tamworth Distilling has released Skiklubben, an American aquavit inspired with the Nansen Ski Club in Berlin, NH, and it's available nationally via Seelbachs.com and at Tamworth Distilling in Tamworth.

One of the first American distilleries to resurrect the age-old Scandinavian spirit and dubbed one of The 16 Best Spirits of 2021 by Bloomberg Pursuits, Tamworth Distilling puts a scratch-made spin on the Nordic spirit traditionally made with dill and caraway. The Tamworth Distilling’s version includes a ginger twist for a floral piquant along with cardamom, star anise, and pink peppercorn.

The distillery claims the drink is a perfect winter sipper and can be used as a seasonal twist in classic cocktails like a Manhattan or Swedish Mule. The baking spices combine with the malty sweetness of root vegetables to create a surprisingly unique mixing tool. The whiskey base (a blend of bourbon, barley and wheat whiskey) also adds complexity, serving as a rich background for the balanced spice of the other ingredients.

Originally founded in 1872 by a group of Nordic settlers before becoming an international ski institution, the Nansen Ski Club is the oldest operating ski club in the country. Maintaining cross-country ski trails in the area, Nansen Ski Club recently restored its ski jump to its former glory after being decommissioned in 1988 and serves as the inspiration behind Tamworth Distilling’s Skiklubben Aquavit.

As of mid-January, guests could return to the cozy outdoor Skiklubben Ski Lounge, an ideal stop before or after the mountain, or for a quintessential NH winter road trip, the Skiklubben Ski Lounge can be reserved by the hour. All reservations come with a complimentary freshly-made growler of Hot Oatmilk Mocha made with Art In The Age House Blend Coffee from Wayfarer Coffee Roasters and Enna Chocolate. Flights and light fare are available à la carte and guests can look forward to hands on guided cocktail classes led by @cocktailswithcorinne.
