NH's Leadership Organizations Hold Statewide Meeting

Published Friday Oct 5, 2012

In Portsmouth, Leadership New Hampshire (LNH), a statewide program whose mission is to build a community of informed and engaged leaders, held its annual meeting with NH regional leadership programs to increase awareness and share information about the importance of these programs across the Granite State.

The groups, whose histories range from two to 25 years, have a vital impact on how NH ensuring that each community, and the state as a whole, continues to produce leaders who are both informed and engaged. "We have seen the NH regional, municipal and state leadership programs become increasingly more visible and effective over the past 25 years," said Jamie Batson, a graduate of Leadership NH who has served as a consultant to several of the programs. "Collectively, these programs have enabled thousands of leaders to learn how to get things done in their communities and statewide."

Although each program is a unique entity in its own right, there is a consistent message found in all of their year-long curricula. Participants are able to gain a better understanding of the issues facing our state and individual regions through session days with content relating to environment and sustainability, government and politics, education, criminal justice, and much more. The participants at the annual meeting shared ways to better inform their associates and find the best ways to keep their alumni engaged.

LNH Executive Director, Stephen Reno, noted, To date, New Hampshire has only been able to scratch the surface as to how impactful these programs are to the state. The graduates go back into their communities with a clearer vision of what affects the Granite State and produce ideas to generate future growth and prosperity. We need to track graduates more effectively and publicize their accomplishments.

New Hampshire has more than a dozen leadership programs representing every region of the state, including the statewide program, Leadership New Hampshire.  For more information on any New Hampshire's leadership programs, please email info@leadershipnh.org or call (603) 226-2265.
