NH Liquor Enforcement Names First Woman Deputy Chief

The New Hampshire Liquor Commission (NHLC) named Lieutenant Danielle Ellston Deputy Chief and Deputy Director of the NHLC Division of Enforcement and Licensing. In her new role, Ellston is responsible for overseeing and administering all law enforcement, licensing and programmatic activities within the Division of Enforcement. Ellston, who has been with NHLC since 2008, is the first female to take on the role and replaces Scott Dunn, who recently retired following a 15-year tenure as Deputy Chief and Deputy Director.

“Danielle’s dedication to serving the state of New Hampshire over the past 14 years made her the ideal candidate to take on this important role,” said NHLC Director of Enforcement Chief Mark Armaganian. “Danielle’s extensive knowledge of laws and rules pertaining to licensing and enforcement has been a tremendous asset for NHLC. We are pleased and fortunate to welcome her into this role as Deputy Chief.”

Deputy Chief Ellston is responsible for developing and implementing law enforcement and licensure plans and programs, recommending revisions in policies and procedures to the Director of Enforcement, efficiently managing the operational costs and growth of the Division, and more.

“My entire career has been with the NHLC Division of Enforcement, and to be named Deputy Chief is a significant honor,” Ellston said. “The Division’s mission of eliminating underage consumption to keep New Hampshire citizens safe is one that I strongly believe in, and I am extremely grateful for the chance to continue serving the state.”

After completing her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice at Endicott College, Ellston was hired by NHLC’s Division of Enforcement and Licensing as a Liquor Investigator in 2008. In 2009, she attended the 148th session of the New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council and received the New Hampshire Law Officer of the Year award in 2010. Ellston was promoted from Liquor Investigator to Sergeant in 2018, before she was named Lieutenant in 2019.
