NH Farms Network Dissolved as Nonprofit

Due to funding issues and family illness, the board of the NH Farms Network (NHFN) in Lebanon voted on April 1 to dissolve its corporate nonprofit status. The organization will continue to maintain its website, posting farm history, contact information and photos from farmers and consumers on an irregular basis.

NHFN was launched in 2008 to create stronger farm businesses through profiles on their website and encouraging consumers to purchase food from local farms. As the organization received more requests for additional farm related information, the website expanded beyond its original mission of posting only farm profiles. By 2013, it had become too large and expensive for one person to manage, prompting the organization to become an official nonprofit with a board of directors the following year.

As a result of the aforementioned challenges, NHFN has a closing debt of $350. Additionally, despite major downsizing, minimal expenses will continue, particularly costs related to maintaining the organization's website.

In her announcement, NHFN founder Helen Brody thanked "all who have given time, information and money in contributing to our goal of connecting farmers and consumers."
