What was once an old paper mill in Lincoln is now the RiverWalk Resort, a fractional ownership resort hotel at Loon Mountain, which opened in late May with 79 suites.

The seven-story resort hotel is being developed through a partnership between Loon Mountain and Dennis Ducharme, president of InnSeason Resorts, which owns and operates the Pollard Brook Resort in Lincoln and resorts in Maine and Massachusetts.

The initial phase of what will be a $33 million project, includes a winery, Italian restaurant, spa, game room and indoor/outdoor swimming pool that converts to an ice skating rink during the winter (the first of its kind in the United States).

The resort will employ between 75 and 100 people as well as an additional 25 to 30 at the restaurant, five to 10 at the winery and five to 10 at the spa. Debi Lombardi has been named as the general manager. She previously served as general manager of two Marriott properties in White River Junction, Vt., and the general manager at the Comfort Inn & Suites-Loon Mountain.

The completed RiverWalk project will add 170 suites, as well as additional shops and dining, a conference center and catering services.

Construction for a second phase of the development is slated to start in 2017 and is expected to be completed in late 2018. There is also a plan to develop a gondola, which will bring up to 48 resort guests across the Pemigewasset River to the base of Loon Mountain.

All of the suites will eventually be sold as sole-ownership or fractional-ownership condos, and when not in use by the owners, will be rented out as hotel suites.
