Innkeepers' Home Destroyed by Fire

Published Friday Aug 22, 2008

Because of a devastating four-alarm fire at the Inn at Danbury in Danbury recently, inn owners, Alex and Bob Graf, are trying to rebuild. Their home was completely destroyed in the fire and the couple has four children about to begin school.

The NH Lodging & Restaurant Association in Concord has offered its services as a drop off location for fellow businesses and colleagues in the southern part of the state to contribute items to the family. The address is 14 Dixon Avenue, Concord. Sunset Hill House is the drop off location in the northern part of the state and that address is 231 Sunset Hill Road, Sugar Hill. For those who can't make either location, on September 4th, at the NHLRA Member Mixer, at the Red Jacket Mt. View Resort and Spa, the organization will accept donations on behalf of the family.

The NHLRA is encouraging contributors to make donations before Labor Day Weekend.

Alex Graf, the spunky wife who also appeared on an episode of "Wife Swap" earlier this year, says there are several items the family needs. "We basically need all things you can need to set up a household. The kids need school supplies, athletic stuff, clothing," she says. Their three daughters are 12, 16, and 20 and their one son is 15. "I think since we do not have any revenue coming in the real key is we need money so any kind of financial in the form of gift cards would be fantastic. We are going to need bids for rebuilding the inn and most likely bringing the whole building up to code," she says.

The inn is planning its Oktoberfest and is also asking for donations of paper products, tents, and warmers for the food.
