Hypertherm Takes Away Top Award in Metal Rankings

Hypertherm, a Hanover-based manufacturer of metal cutting systems, is number one in a new survey of steel service center executives. Executives responding to the Metal Center News Top 10 Service Center Equipment Brands list for 2011 say Hypertherm products are the best in the Cutting Equipment category, which includes all methods of cutting including oxyfuel, plasma, and laser. Metal Center News is a trade publication for the cutting industry.

The final ranking, which is based on the number of votes each company received, is a rough indication of which brands command the largest share of mind, and highest levels of customer satisfaction, among service centers. In addition to Cutting, service center executives also ranked products in the Coil Processing, Sawing, and Material Handling categories.

Metal Center News reports capital spending among service centers is up more than 16 percent in 2011. This follows two weak years for the U.S. economy, in which service centers saw a drop in business.
