Wilton Mill Worx Purchases Historic Mill

Wilton Mill Worx, LLC (WMW) has purchased the Colony-Abbott Mill at 1 Riverside Drive in the town of Wilton. The company intends to redevelop the property into a mixed-use campus that maximizes its central location just across the river from the resurgent Main Street business district.

“It’s humbling.” says Chris Bernat, Managing Partner of Wilton Mill Worx.  “We recognize that this mill is the front door of Wilton and have true respect for its history. We hope to steward a bright future for this centralized property.”

Built starting in 1882, the sprawling 93,000+ sq ft group of structures has been a town landmark and hub of employment for generations. Spread over 14 acres the property includes a dam upriver, a retention pond, several acres along the river and residential property on Mill Street.  It will soon be active again and is currently undergoing some modifications for the new anchor tenant.

“We are excited to be part of the neighborhood” says Ted Pidcock, President and founder of Beantown Brand Apparel and a partner in WMW. “Beantown is about quality and comfort you can count on. In the coming months we will be bringing our warehouse and digital print operations to Wilton. We invite people who want to be part of something special to come talk to us about a local career.”

In the near term, Wilton Mill Worx is interested in hearing from perspective companies, organizations, and entrepreneurs in need of space for their endeavors. Harnessing the power of the hydro-dam and active penstock infrastructure is a major priority. Solar energy is also top of mind for the new owners. The Mill will have an open house by appointment from 2PM-6PM Thursday October 6th and Friday October 7th from 9AM-12AM. Interested parties can call or email to set a time.

Long range plans include addressing Wilton’s need for housing. “We know there is demand for housing in the community and we are in the process of assessing how best to fill that need.” says George Menihtas, President of Boston Kitchen Design and partner in WMW. “We think a restaurant and other retail could be part of expanding the commercial downtown district as well.”

Wilton Mill Worx, LLC owns and operates the 14-acre property at 1 Riverside Drive and associated properties along the banks of the picturesque Souhegan River in Wilton, New Hampshire. The company is redeveloping the property into a mixed-use complex focused on providing sustainable power, work opportunities and housing to the community of Wilton.
