Bangor Savings Bank offers a variety of ways to help its employees, including an employee Relief Fund that provides financial assistance for employees who are experiencing various financial difficulties. It also offers a variety of interest-free loan programs for employees to assist with computer and mobile device purchases, wellness and health care expenses, and to pay for heating oil, wood or propane. And instead of reimbursing employees for college tuition once they complete a course, the bank pre-pays the tuition at the time of registration, up to $5,000 annually, to remove any financial barriers employees face in furthering their education.

Employees receive from 168 to 272 hours of paid time-off annually as well as 32 hours of paid time-off to volunteer in the community. New parents receive 16 weeks of paid parental leave. Employees are provided flex time to adjust when they start or finish their workday, and the bank offers remote work options. And this year, it rolled out a new “family building” benefit that reimburses up to $10,000 (life-time maximum) per family to assist with the expenses of fertility treatment, donors and surrogacy and/or adoption expenses.

The bank also pays for 98% of employee health insurance premiums. Through its Be Well Program, Bangor Savings Bank offers wellness workshops, seminars and classes, chair massages in all locations, onsite fitness and yoga classes, Fitbit and Wellness Challenges and a free Fitbit every two years.

The bank also invests in the future of its employees. It offers a 15- to 18-month long management trainee program that includes department and branch rotations, bank-wide projects and mentoring.
