The most recent addition at Primary Bank is the creation of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee made up entirely of staff from varying departments who are working toward a social impact initiative that includes a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

While the bank is only eight years old, this young company still recognizes longevity with a $500 bonus for employees who have been with the bank for five years and adds another $100 for every subsequent year. Every employee has a chance to award up to four peer bonuses to other employees annually, and senior management can give $100 spot cash awards when they see an employee going above and beyond.

Almost two years ago, Primary Bank closed its branches on Saturdays except the Bedford location so the majority of its staff does not have to work weekends. Every other month Primary hosts a bank-wide staff luncheon and other months where the senior manager takes their department staff out to lunch.

Primary Bank is committed to promoting from within whenever possible and to making sure employees are in the right jobs. The bank will not simply replace an employee if they are not well suited for a role but will reconsider employees for a role within another department. “While this does not work 100% of the time, we are committed to trying 100% of time to make it work,” the bank states in its Best Companies application.

Among the banks perks are $400 to $1,000 bonuses for new employee referrals, 13 weeks of paid leave for new parents and all employees receive fee free accounts at the bank.
