Archway Farm Becomes First Animal Welfare Approved Farm

Published Thursday Oct 26, 2017

Archway Farm in Keene recently became the first farm in Cheshire County to become certified as Animal Welfare Approved (AWA) by A Greener World.

The certification and food label informs consumers that animals are raised in accordance with the highest animal welfare standards in the United States and Canada, using sustainable agriculture methods on an independent family farm.

"Animal welfare and sustainability are top priorities for our farm, and AWA is the gold standard. For our customers that can't visit the farm, this certification gives them comfort that our animals are humanely raised" says Farmer Mark Florenz.

The 80 acre historic farm property in west Keene focuses on raising heritage breed pigs, rotating them through 15 acres of open pasture.
