Absolute Resource Earns Certification

Published Monday Apr 2, 2018

Absolute Resource Associates (ARA), an environmental firm in Portsmouth, has earned national certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise by the Center for Women & Enterprise, a regional certifying partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).

Susan Sylvester, president of ARA, says, "Of course, we're excited to create new business partnerships within the WBENC community, and we're also very proud to be part of any efforts that help level the playing field for women-owned businesses."

WBENC’s national standard of certification is a meticulous process including an in-depth review of the business and site inspection. The certification process is designed to confirm the business is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by a woman (or women). Certified businesses benefit from events and networking opportunities that connect them with supplier diversity experts, government and corporate procurement professionals, and other industry and thought leaders throughout the U.S.

By including women-owned businesses among their suppliers, corporations and government agencies demonstrate their commitment to fostering diversity and the continued development of their supplier diversity programs. WBENC fosters the idea that, "diversity promotes innovation, opens doors, and creates partnerships that fuel the economy."
