For the past 25 years, Amanda Grappone Osmer, the fourth-generation owner of Grappone Automotive Group, has worked for the dealership her great grandparents started as a gas station in 1924. And she knows why you hate her.
“Mentally you start to make a tally, when you see me coming, of all the ways you’re going to get ripped off,” Grappone Osmer quipped to an audience at a TEDx talk titled “I Know Why You Hate Me,” in 2015. But the upshot of that talk is about integrity, kindness, and respect for people in our lives. And these are attributes built into the Grappone Automotive Group’s mission statement. Grappone Osmer’s focus on giving back has made her and Grappone Automotive trusted members of NH’s business community and one of the most successful companies in the state. It is also among the reasons she is among the 49 nominees nationally for the 2024 TIME Dealer of the Year award.
Grappone Automotive opened a new 3,000-square-foot multi-purpose training last summer in Concord and allows nonprofits free use of the center for meetings. Among the challenges facing the state today, Grappone Osmer says, is the housing shortage and food insecurity. Grappone Automotive Group has pledged to give at least 5% of its net profits each year to charitable endeavors addressing these and other concerns.
