Washington D.C. Startup Making Waves in NH

Published Monday Jun 1, 2015

A rapidly growing Washington DC-based startup is now making waves in New Hampshire. Weather Analytics, a three-year old scientific data analytics company, has opened a second office in Somersworth. Looking to expand its talent pool, the company has appointed area-native Emmett Soldati as its chief product officer.

In his new role, Soldati will drive the design and development of products the company sells to clients in the insurance, agriculture, retail, advertising, and government sectors.

As a serial entrepreneur in the Granite State – from a tea house and a gastropub, to green tech and incubators, Soldati’s passion for innovation has contributed to the economic and cultural revitalization of Somersworth. He has sat on multiple boards, including an arts nonprofit, and the board of governors for York University in Toronto, from which he graduated summa cum laude.

Named one of NH's top upstarts by Business NH Magazine at the age of 25, for his continued engagement in ventures large and small, Soldati also founded the Makers & Shakers organization, which promotes and celebrates entrepreneurs in semi-rural areas.

“What attracted me to Weather Analytics was not just that the company was refining and perfecting the science of meteorology, but the broad, expansive applications that atmospheric sciences have in decision support for a range of industries. Getting the chance to work with major advertising agencies like Ogilvy and Mather, or large insurance companies, like Houston Casualty Corp, all which are grappling with significant weather-dependent challenges or opportunities in the data age – has been an exciting undertaking," Solidati says.

Bill Pardue, chairman and CEO of Weather Analytics, said Soldati’s unrelenting rejection of the status quo drives continual innovation and enhancements across every business function, not simply products.

“This is a hyper-competitive guy,” Pardue said, “and that spirit drives the best in all of us.”

In conjunction with Soldati’s appointment, Weather Analytics announced it is recruiting new talent to double its current staff of 10 in Somersworth and it plans to do so this year.

“We’re always on the hunt for upstart talent,” says Pardue. “What’s most important for our team is individuals who can jump into any challenge, enjoy learning new skills, and can make lemonade, out of anything."

The Somersworth office, known locally as “Weather Analytics North,” resides in a large corner of the city’s largest former textile mill.
