Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth  is opening a new MedCheck Urgent Care at 178 Daniel Webster Highway in Meredith on Oct. 11.

Scott W. Rodi, MD, has been named chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Dartmouth Health’s Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) and Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine in Lebanon. Rodi’s was appointed after a national search. He has served as interim chair since 2020.

Plymouth State University (PSU) has embarked on a $40 million renovation of Harold E. Hyde Hall, the 82,000-square-foot, four story hub of the university’s Business programs. PSU is working to raise $10 million to add to the $30 million already allocated by the University System of NH for the project.

Following a national search, Nathan Goldstein, MD, has been named chair of the Department of Medicine at Dartmouth Health and Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine. Goldstein comes to Dartmouth Health from the Brookdale Department of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he is a professor and holds the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman Chair in Palliative Care. Goldstein serves as the system vice-chair for Professional Development.

Adele Bauman  joined the board of directors of the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA). Bauman was recently appointed executive director of the NH State Council on the Arts, one of NEFA’s six state arts agency partners.

REI Co-op opens its new Bedford store on Oct. 6. Located in Bedford’s Market and Main shopping center, the 22,000 square-foot store will offer a wide assortment of gear for camping, cycling, running, fitness, hiking, paddling, climbing, snow sports and more. The store includes a specialty bike and ski shop led by certified mechanics.
