In the spotlight: The U.S. Small Business Administration will celebrate National Veterans Small Business Week Oct. 31 – Nov. 4, with a series of virtual and in-person events highlighting the entrepreneurial spirit and resilience of our veteran small business owners. Under the Biden-Harris Administration, increasing support for our service members, veterans, and their families has been a key priority. In October 2022, the SBA announced additional funding opportunities for community-based organizations to create targeted, impactful programming and expand access to SBA resources to support veteran entrepreneurs.

Little Antlers Learning Center recently opened their doors in Plymouth with the support of the state and local community. Meredith Village Savings Bank proudly purchased $10,000 in tax credits for the center through the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA) to further the Bank’s commitment to help address the region’s need for additional childcare services.

Loon Mountain Resort in Lincoln unveiled plans to expand and enhance the resort’s South Peak area. Included are the addition of over thirty acres of skiable terrain and an all-new four-place chairlift. Along with new trails and fully automated snowmaking, the new terrain will offer tree-skiing areas for beginner and intermediate-level skiers and snowboarders.  With work already underway, the new terrain and chairlift will open during the 2023/24 winter season.

Portsmouth Regional Hospital plans to construct a new radiation oncology suite on its main campus in Portsmouth. The project is expected to begin in November 2022 and be located at the front of the building, with equipment to provide radiation treatment for most cancers and a comfortable clinical area with a private front entrance and separate designated parking for radiation patients. Construction is expected to take 12 to 14 months, with an anticipated opening date in late 2023.
