In the Spotlight: Tinkham Realty Inc. of Windham completed the sale of Towne Shoppes at 29 Indian Rock Road in Windham to K. Kara Inc. of New Jersey. The property consists of a 7,828-square-foot retail strip plaza fully occupied by Aplus Cleaners, State Farm Insurance, Klemms Bakery, Renew Medispa and Bank of America Kiosk. Jerry Hersch of the commercial division of Tinkham Realty represented the seller 21st Century Development Corp. of Windham. The sales price according to the Rockingham Registry of Deeds was $1,650,000.

The Furniture Masters are returning to Castle in the Clouds Sunday, July 15 for a daytime exhibit (included with Castle admission) followed by an evening reception (separate ticketed event) on the Castle lawn. During the reception, each Master will be showing a recent piece of work and discussing the intricacies of the design, creation, and inspirations behind each piece.

The Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire and Strawbery Banke Museum will again hold a public reading of one of the 19th century’s most famous speeches, “What to the Slaves is the Fourth of July?” given by Frederick Douglass in 1852. The reading will take place at noon on July 3rd, 2018, at the Strawbery Banke Museum Visitor’s Center in Portsmouth.

State regulators have approved Eversource's default energy service charge for the six-month period beginning August 1. Residential and Small Commercial Customers choosing to purchase energy from Eversource will see their energy supply charge increase to 9.412 cents per kilowatt-hour from the current 7.903 cents/kWhr. According to a statement, this is a direct pass-through cost to customers for the price of power generation, with no profit to Eversource.

St. Mary’s Bank has added "Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts" (IOLTA) to its products and services. According to a statement, this special account offers above-market rates on IOLTAs and channels the interest earned on attorney escrow accounts to the NH Bar Foundation, which uses the earnings to fund free or reduced-fee civil legal services and legal education to underserved populations.

The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation Forest’s Ramp Fund has given a gift of $250,000 to Peterborough Town Library’s 1833 Society capital campaign to build a new library. The library campaign goal is $8.5 million with $7,172,130 million raised to date in gifts and pledges. Scheduled for construction this fall, the expanded library will be built with accessibility and sustainability as core features.

According to NH Department of Environmental Services (DES), the U.S. Drought Monitor released June 22, shows that over the past five weeks the entire state of New Hampshire has been categorized as abnormally dry and the 3-month seasonal drought outlook predicts that drought development is likely. Over the last 60 days, most of the state has received approximately 50 percent expected precipitation. DES urges the public to be conservation-minded and to begin limiting outdoor water use, including refraining from landscape watering and limiting any watering to between 7 p.m. and 8 a.m.
