In the Spotlight: The City of Manchester’s Board of Mayor & Aldermen recently appointed three new members to the Manchester Development Corporation (MDC) Board of Directors. New members include Elias “Skip” Ashooh, Michael Skelton, president & CEO of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, and Alexander Walker, executive VP & COO of Catholic Medical Center. The MDC is a nonprofit economic development arm of the City and helped finance the rehabilitation of important downtown landmarks such as the Chase Block, Dunlap building and McQuades building.

North Branch Construction in Concord named Katie Lopes NH Marketing Manager. Lopes has been with the firm for more than nine years, starting as a part-time project manager assistant. She serves on the Board of Directors for the NH/VT Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors Young Professionals Group.

Bank of New Hampshire has appointed Elin Leonard to assistant VP and banking office manager for the Bedford location. Leonard has more than 22 years of experience in the industry and a broad knowledge of retail and small business banking.

Peabody & Smith Realty has hired Melissa Palmer in their Holderness location. Palmer is from California and spent more than 20 years working in the resort industry.

Hood Museum in Hanover has appointed Jami Powell, a citizen of the Osage Nation, as the first associate curator of Native American art. Powell has a PhD in anthropology and is currently a faculty lecturer in the American Studies Program at Tufts University.

Darci Creative in Portsmouth has hired Sam Costanzo as digital marketing manager. A Seacoast native, Costanzo earned a degree in economics and spent several years fine-tuning his customer service and managerial skills in some of Portsmouth’s most popular restaurants. In 2012, he opened a solar-powered, eco-friendly vacation rental home on the Pacific coast of Nicaragua.

DeStefano Architects in Portsmouth, hired Erin Graham, LEED GA as an interior designer. Graham will coordinate residential and commercial interior designs and assist in the growth of the firm’s interiors department. She is a graduate of the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston.

About two dozen employees of Watts Water Technologies in Franklin received their advanced manufacturing certificates from Lakes Region Community College, after completing a 15-month program. Watts matched a $55,000 grant from the NH Job Training Fund to provide high skill training for its employees. At least six were promoted at a result of the training.

Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia was one of 750 hospitals awarded an ‘A’ for its efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S. The recognition comes from The Leapfrog Group, a Washington D.C-based organization.

Primmer Piper Eggleston & Cramer, Manchester has hired Elizabeth Brown. As an experienced attorney working in estate planning and business law, she will assist the firm in expanding the estate planning and corporate practice groups in their NH offices.
