In the Spotlight: Northeast Credit Union (NECU) recently donated $5,000 to Make-A-Wish New Hampshire at their annual kid’s Halloween party on Oct. 31. Make-A-Wish NH is a non-profit organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. “Make-A-Wish® gives these children something to look forward to, not just by granting wishes, but also through events that bring them together as a community,” says Tim Collia, Northeast Credit Union President and CEO. Make-A-Wish NH's president and CEO says that NECU's donation is revolutionary. “By granting the wishes of children facing critical illnesses through their support, Northeast Credit Union and their members are transforming the lives of children, families and communities throughout New Hampshire,” says Julie Baron, Make-A-Wish® NH President and CEO. “These wishes allow everyone involved to experience true happiness, giving children renewed energy and strength, bringing families closer together, and uniting communities. Women Who Care Peterborough (WWCP) recently selected ConVal Community Dollars for Scholars fund to receive their quarterly collective donation, which is expected to be a minimum of $11,850. Every WWCP member committed to donating at least $50. Dollars for Scholars awards scholarships to ConVal high school graduates, who face challenging situations. The organization also announced that as of January 2018, the organization will change its name to 100+ Women Who Care Monadnock to better align with the location the organization serves.

WMUR recently hired Emmy Award-winning journalist Mike Cherry as an anchor and reporter. Cherry, who has 17 years’ experience reporting in Hawaii is a graduate of the University of Hawaii with a Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism. He has covered everything from devastating tsunamis in Indonesia to NFL drafts in Chicago. He starts at WMUR on Nov. 27, where he will anchor the five-p.m. newscast.

The Associated Builders and Contractors New Hampshire and Vermont chapter recently honored North Branch Construction at their Annual Excellence in Construction Awards, which were held at the Manchester Country Club in Bedford on Oct. 26. The firm received the award for the Phase I and Phase II renovations of Ohrstrom Library on the campus of St. Pauls’s School, which features an elaborate winding ceremonial staircase with intricate wood paneling, slate flooring, custom metal light fixtures, and hand-hammered wrought iron and hand-carved oak railings.

In Jan. 2018, Christine Harris-Fletcher will be retiring from her role as SVP and retail banking services officer at Meredith Village Savings Bank (MVSB). Marcus Weeks, vice president of business development and small business lending officer will take over Harris-Fletcher’s responsibilities upon retirement. Harris-Fletcher was with the company for 12 years.

Tilson president and CEO, Joshua Broder has recently been named one of America’s “Top 20 Under 40” in commercial engineering and construction by Engineering News-Record (ENR). Broder, a former U.S. Army signal officer was the only “top young professional” honoree from the New England region to make this year’s national “Top 20 Under 40” list.

Greg Jordan recently joined UNH Cooperative Extension as its Rockingham County forester. Jordan will work alongside landowners, communities, partners, and other stakeholders to advise them on managing woodlots and caring for the county’s forests. No stranger to UNH, Jordan received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in forestry from the institution.
