In the spotlight: Dr. Frederick W. McKinney, director of the Minority Business Programs at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, recently received the 2017 Ronald H. Brown Leadership Award from The U.S. Department of Commerce, Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA). The award is inspired by the outstanding leadership of the late U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Ronald H. Brown. “It is with humility and a great sense of pride that I accept this award on behalf of minority businesses and those who support the inclusion of minority businesses in the American economy,” McKinney says.

Cobb Hill Construction recently announced the welcoming of Jordan Temple as the company’s new safety officer. Temple is a graduate of Keene State College, who majored in safety management. Cobb Hill’s president is thrilled to work with Temple. “I am excited to work with Jordan as he assumes the Safety Officer Position at Cobb Hill and I am very confident Jordan’s professionalism and his experience will allow us to continue the high standard we have come to know,” says Jerry Kingwill, president of Cobb Hill.

Granite Recovery Centers, New Hampshire’s largest substance abuse treatment provider, officially launched on Oct. 26 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, that included local officials and the Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce. The 30,000 square foot headquarters facility houses administrative offices as well as the Pritts Recovery Center, which is a community space named after 12-step pioneer, Don Pritts, that will host an array of events from recovery meetings to family support groups.

Congratulations are in order for Hillside Springs Farm. The Westmoreland farm was recently honored as the “2017 Cooperator of the Year”. The Cheshire County Conservation District honors and individual, business, or organization with the delightful award yearly to celebrate the efforts the recipient has attempted to steward natural resources on their land in cooperation with the Conservation District and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).

The sustainable investing company announced the appointment of Andrew Braun as portfolio manager, Barbara Browning, CFA as co-portfolio manager of the Pax Large Cap Fund (PAXLX), and Yvonne Tai as senior analyst for the Pax Core Bond Fund.

Hinckley Allen recently named one of its NH associates, Erin M. Vanden Borre the 2017 New Hampshire Rising Star. The law firm uses its “rising star” list to recognize no more than two point five percent of attorneys in each state. Candidates must be either r40 years old or younger, or in practice for 10 years or less to be eligible for Rising Stars.

Raynor Dental recently announced the addition of Dr. Nilfa Collins to their Peterborough practice. Collins is an award-winning pediatric specialist who’s been practicing in Nashua and Pelham for the past 16 years. She will begin working with Raynor Dental’s youth patients on maintaining their oral health on Nov. 6.

Sixteen New Hampshire entrepreneurs were honored on Oct. 17 in Manchester for their completion of SBA’s seven-month executive education series focusing on the future expansion of their small businesses. The Emerging Leaders program is the only federal training exclusive for small business executives with a growth trajectory.

The Greater Somersworth Chamber of Commerce celebrated the opening of a new location for  Dumais & Ferland, CPAs, LLC. with a ribbon cutting ceremony, on Oct. 24. The new space is located at 472 High Street in Somersworth, and offers a better parking facility with the convenient location near the Tri-City Plaza.

The New Hampshire Stroke Collaborative was recently awarded the American Stroke Association’s 2017 Community Conscience Award at the twelfth annual Summit of the Northeast Cerebrovascular Consortium (NECC). The award is annually presented to an individual or group, who advocates for policy change supported by the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association to improve stroke systems of care, including prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation for stroke patients within the Northeast region.
