This Week’s Spotlight: Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) in Tennessee, a for-profit manager of 169 hospitals and 116 surgery centers in 20 states and the U.K., promoted Tim McManus as president of its Capital Division. The branch covers 18 hospitals in Indiana, Kentucky, NH and Virginia, including Portsmouth Regional Hospital and Parkland Medical Center in Derry. McManus has held executive roles at HCA since 2004, most recently working as CEO of Chippenham and Johnston-Willis Medical Center in Virginia. He succeeds Rob Carrel, who is retiring after nearly 25 years at HCA.

The Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce hired Kristina Carlson as communications manager. Carlson has a decade of experience, most recently working as the communications and marketing associate at the NH Community Loan Fund in Concord.

Instabil in Portsmouth, a merchant services provider, will now offer Bitcoin as an option for deposit payouts to merchants and partners. Bitcoin is a digital asset and payment system operating on direct, peer-to-peer transactions. Merchants can receive payouts provided they have a bitcoin account with a reputable bitcoin wallet.

Jewett Construction Co., Inc. in Raymond is building a new 40,000-square-foot dealership for Bill Dube Ford Toyota in Dover. Architecture and engineering for the project is being done by Bruce Ronayne Hamilton Architects in New Ipswich and Summit Engineering in Portsmouth. The dealership will include a showroom, management space and garage with 24 service bays.

Jones & Beach Engineers Inc. in Stratham hired Paul Zarnowski as assistant survey manager. Zarnowski has more than 40 years of experience working with private developers and municipalities.

Lake Sunapee Bank in Newport and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston (FHLBB) donated $4,000 to the NH Food Bank in Manchester. Lake Sunapee Bank matched a $2,000 grant from the FHLBB’s Grants for New England Partnerships program, which provides FHLBB members with funds to distribute to a local nonprofit.

Meredith Village Savings Bank (MVSB) promoted Nancy Mardin to assistant VP, branch and business development manager. Mardin has 43 years of experience in community banking and has worked at MVSB since 2004, most recently as branch and business development manager of the Bank’s office at the Hannaford in Plymouth. She will now oversee the bank's office on Main Street in Plymouth as well as its Plymouth Hannaford branch.

Jamie Thoroughgood of Center Barnstead received the 2016 Kathy Anderson Scholarship from the NH Electric Cooperative in Plymouth. The scholarship grants $2,500 to a female Co-op member who is over 25 years old and enrolled in an undergraduate program. Thoroughgood is pursuing an associate degree for nursing at NH Technical Institute in Concord.

Leoni is a principal at Nathan Wechsler & Co., P.A. in Concord, and Roseline Marston is president of A.D. Marble & Co., an employee-owned engineering and environmental services firm in Pennsylvania.

North Branch Construction in Concord completed construction of Salmon Brook Senior Housing in Nashua, a three story, 31-unit facility. The project, designed by David M. White Architecture in New London, was funded by the NH Housing Finance Authority in Bedford and sponsored by Southern NH Services Management Corporation in Manchester.

Campbell is a recent graduate from the Boston University School of Law and most recently worked as a law clerk for the Massachusetts Division of Administrative Law Appeals. Stay Work Play NH will relocate its office to the Flats at Hanover Commons in Manchester, a studio apartment complex scheduled to open in late summer. Developed by Elm Grove Companies in Manchester, The Flats will include 32 apartments ranging from 280 to 410 square feet, six office spaces and a café. Stay Work Play is the first occupant of The Flats’ office spaces.

Truell, owner of Truell, will work as an associate for Peabody & Smith at her office in Meredith. Peabody & Smith covers Northern and Central NH, with offices in Bretton Woods, Franconia, Holderness, Littleton and Plymouth.

Sarah and Peter Ward, owners of Worldwide Chocolate in Barrington, sold the business to Craig Cahill. The Wards founded the e-commerce dessert business 12 years ago as a home-based operation, eventually moving to a 2,500-square-foot facility and generating nearly $3 million in annual sales. Ed Settino, an associate at NH Business Sales in Pembroke, brokered the deal.
