Seven NH nonprofits focused on arts education and services received $112,500 in grants from the Lincoln Financial Foundation, which awards grants in the areas of arts, education, human services and economic/workforce development. These grants are a portion of nearly $500,000 in charitable funds the foundation allocated for NH in 2017.
The Currier Museum of Art in Manchester will provide school tours to 8,200 students from across NH with the help of a grant from Lincoln Financial Foundation. Additional Lincoln Foundation funding this year has expanded the program to serve 900 more Manchester students.
Other organizations awarded arts grants include:
- Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord to support the Lincoln Financial School Series of curriculum-based live performances for more than 13,000 NH school children by professional touring companies that use the arts to enhance classroom learning tied to core education curricula.
- Concord Community Music School for the Music in the Community Initiative, which provides more than 500 educational residency days each year to a diverse population of more than 1,800 individuals that includes 1- to 6-year-olds from low-income families, teens, adults with developmental disabilities and elementary school students.
- MacDowell Colony in Peterborough to sponsor Medal Day and its celebration of the arts, as well as Make Art, a public art project for all ages.
- New Hampshire Music Festival in Plymouth to support Music in the Mountains and the Family Outreach program.
- Pontine Theatre in Portsmouth to bring its touring production of Story of a Bad Boy to assisted living communities and nursing homes in Merrimack County.
- Red River Theatres in Concord for Beyond the Classroom, a program that uses film as an adjunct to education to enhance and enrich learning.
