Sister Paula Marie Buley brings not only impressive credentials to her new role as president of Rivier College in Nashua, but a commitment to strengthening the college's ties to the business community.
Sister Paula took over in August from Dr. William Farrell, who retired after over a decade as president. She says she was drawn to Rivier College by its mission of transforming hearts and minds to serve the world.
The college itself continues to transform, offering more than 60 undergraduate and graduate programs. Rivier was first to offer a doctorate of education in NH. Its 68-acre campus has 44 buildings, including four residence halls that house 421 students; 74 full-time faculty, and a $29.9 million endowment to serve its 2,256 students.
Sister Paula, who has an Ed.D, MALS and an MBA, has 25 years' experience in higher education administration. She formerly served as executive vice president of administration at Seton Hall University in New Jersey.
First on Sister Paula's agenda is developing a master plan for the 78-year-old institution. The college will also continue to build on its online course offerings and continue to develop its partnerships within the business community. As such, Sister Paula will be active in area chambers of commerce and rotary clubs to connect with businesses, and she will continue the President's Circle, a leadership group at the college made up of business leaders who support the college's mission.
I want the business community to know Rivier College stands ready to be a partner with them in fostering economic development, workforce development, and community development, Sister Paula says. The college offers a dynamic faculty, quality academic programs and students who are ready to assume roles within businesses as interns and as employees.
