Portsmouth Opens Driving Tour

Seacoast New Hampshire Heritage Tours, LLC, the Portsmouth area's only driving tour, is now open for business. The company offers visitors and residents the opportunity to learn about Portsmouth's rich history and to tour the scenic coastline from the comfort of an air-conditioned van.
 
Each tour is designed to be personal, informative, and comfortable and is limited to five people. The Signature Heritage Tour is a three-hour sightseeing adventure that offers an overview of the area's history, with a particular focus on 1600-1820. A two-hour Scenic Coastal Tour explores the 13 miles of coastline between Maine and Massachusetts, which is lined with stately mansions and summer homes from a by-gone era, and provides some of the best views of the Isles of Shoals. Seacoast New Hampshire Heritage Tours can also tailor private or special tours.

A lifelong lover of history, Owner Dave Maloney moved to the NH Seacoast in 1989. He is a college instructor who has travelled extensively to historical sites around the world from the Great Wall of China to the Egyptian pyramids. Maloney's particular area of interest is in Early American history, especially of New England, and he says he enjoys telling visitors stories about the area's rich history and its people. He has participated in local archaeological projects and is a guide and interpreter with the Gundalow Company and the American Independence Museum.

Seacoast New Hampshire Heritage Tours grew out of my love of the local history and the realization that there was no narrated driving tours in Portsmouth or along the coastline, said Maloney, who also serves as lead guide for the company. The response since we started offering tours Memorial Day weekend has been terrific and we are excited to share the rich history of the Seacoast region with visitors and residents alike.
