January and February pounded some parts of NH with more than five feet of snow with winter storm Juno accounting for two to three feet of it. And while all that snow means snow days for kids, it also has budget implications, both for winter maintenance and lost productivity. Here’s a snapshot of what that looks like in NH and the Northeast:

$28 Million

Amount of winter maintenance budget spent as of Feb 3, or 64 percent of the total.

106,000 tons

Amount of salt used on the 9,100 lane miles of NH highways through early Feb. The 27-year average is 96,000 tons at this time.

$2 Million

The cost of winter storm Juno for road maintenance, which is equal to $1.30 for each of the state’s 1.5 million registered vehicles.

$1 Billion

Cost of winter storm Juno to the Northeast, including road maintenance and losses in job productivity. Of that total, $265 million was from Massachusetts.

$230 Million

The cost of canceled flights caused by winter storm Juno.
