NHBSR Names New Executive Director

Published Sunday Sep 25, 2011

The nonprofit NH Businesses for Social Responsibility announced last week that the board had hired a new executive director. Michelle Veasey will assume leadership of the organization on October 3.

"As NHBSR continues to pursue our objective of being the go-to organization for sustainability and social responsibility in New Hampshire, we are excited to have Michelle joining our team," said NHBSR Board Co-Chair Jeff Allar, who is employed by Stonyfield Farm in Londonderry. "Michelle brings a great breadth of knowledge and experience to the position and is committed to growing membership and initiating programs that better inform and educate the state's business community."

Veasey, an Atkinson resident, earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Denver, and her master's degree in 2004 from the University of New Hampshire in Durham. She most recently served as manager of the New Hampshire Lodging and Restaurant Association's Sustainable Lodging & Restaurant Program for the past seven years. That organization serves the loding and restaurant industry in the state. While there, Veasey was responsible for coordinating a self-funded, nonprofit program to encourage the hospitality industry in NH to implement eco-friendly practices. In addition, she developed seminars to enhance members' interest in and understanding of potential green initiatives while also facilitating partnerships with government, nonprofit and business groups committed to sustainability.

"Michelle's background in sustainability, CSR, and education will be invaluable as we further develop our programming and forge new relationships," said NHBSR Co-Chair Erik Barstow. "I know that under her direction, our organization will continue to grow, thrive and serve as an excellent resource for New Hampshire businesses."
