NH's Women-Owned Businesses Celebrate Growth

New Hampshire has an estimated 37,400 women-owned firms, employing 37,700 workers and attributing to roughly $6,780,800,000, according to American Express OPEN State of Women-Owned Business, a comprehensive report that analyzes December 2010-released data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unique analysis, reported by industry, revenue and employment size at the national and state levels, shares a new and nuanced investigation into the growth trends among the 8.1 million women-owned enterprises over the past 14 years.

Nationally, the number of women-owned businesses has increased 50 percent since 1997. New Hampshire is ranked 29 with a 37.2 percent increase in the number of women-owned firms since 1997. New Hampshire is also one of the states in which revenue from women-owned firms has increased well above the national average.

New Hampshire ranks Number 3 overall with revenue growth of 117.8 percent between 1997 and 2011.
