NH Liquor Commission Gets into the Holiday Spirit(s)

Published Tuesday Nov 28, 2017

The NH Liquor Commission has long supported the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. Pictured here in 2015 is Mark Roy, NHLC spirits marketing specialist, helping to load boxes of toys to be donated to the Toys for Tots Program.

The NH Liquor Commission (NHLC) is teaming up with key industry partners on a series of initiatives to raise funds and resources for those most in need this holiday season. During November and December, NHLC and its business partners are facilitating charitable programs benefiting the NH Food Bank, the only statewide food bank in the Granite State, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, which delivers presents to less fortunate children, and Operation Care For Troops, which delivers care packages to U.S. troops abroad. During the past four years, NHLC has worked with suppliers and brokers to raise more than $1.071 million for nonprofit organizations making an impact in NH.

“We are pleased to be working with our industry partners this holiday season to offer our customers a number of chances to make a difference,” said NHLC Chairman Joseph Mollica.

NHLC is facilitating the following charitable initiatives during November and December at all 80 NH Liquor & Wine Outlets:

• NHLC will collect monetary donations in support of the NH Food Bank, which receives no state or federal aid for food distribution, delivers food to a network of more than 425 partners across the state. The NH Food Bank delivered more than 13 million pounds of food last year and anticipates distributing more than 14 million pounds of food this year. Since July 2015, NHLC has donated more than $37,500 to the New Hampshire Food Bank.

• NHLC will collect toys in support of the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve’s Toys for Tots drive. Last year, NHLC collected more than 1,200 toys for Toys for Tots. The U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year to be distributed as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children.

• Belvedere Vodka is partnering with NHLC to collect non-perishable food items for the NH Food Bank. For each non-perishable food item donated at New Hampshire Liquor & Wine Outlets, customers will receive $1 off one bottle of Belvedere Vodka (limited sizes only)–-up to a maximum of six bottles per visit. In addition, Belvedere Vodka will donate $1 per bottle of Belvedere Vodka purchased during this program up to a maximum of $5,000. Customers can turn in non-perishable food items at the register.

• Crown Royal is collaborating with NHLC to donate $10,000 to the NH-based nonprofit, Operation Care For Troops, which fill Crown Royal bags with goodies and include them in care packages it sends to U.S. troops stationed overseas. The troops use the bags to store night vision goggles. Consumers can donate bags at any NH Liquor & Wine Outlet. During this initiative last year, NHLC and Crown Royal collected 21,200 bags to send to troops. Nationally, Crown Royal will donate $1 from every Crown Royal bag collected (up to $50,000) at participating stores throughout the country to Packages From Home, which also provides care packages and Crown Royal bags to troops abroad.
