A number of organizations are partnering to launch NH's first Energy Week, a series of events from March 6 to 9 geared towards education and awareness of the economic benefits and impacts of energy efficiency and renewable energy. Organizations involved in the launch include The Nature Conservancy, The NH Clean Tech Council, , NH Businesses for Social Responsibility, Granite State Brewers Association, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions and the NH Municipal Association.
NH Energy Week will include events with policy makers, manufacturers, municipal leaders and energy industry leaders, who will highlight the efforts being made in NH to move toward reliable, affordable and sustainable energy alternatives. All events will take place in Concord, and include an "Ask the Experts" lunch at the State House; a breakfast panel at the Grappone Conference Center; and a film screening and discussion of The Burden at Red River Theater.
The Grappone breakfast will have three panels, including a discussion with municipal leaders moderated by Kevin Smith, town manager of Londonderry; a discussion with manufacturers moderated by Steve Duprey, president of Foxfire Property Management in Concord; and a discussion with energy sector leaders moderated by Taylor Caswell, executive director of the CDFA.
“[Londonderry’s] investment in energy efficiency is already helping us protect the environment while also saving taxpayer money," says Smith. "It’s a win-win.”
David Worthen, president & CEO of Worthen Industries in Nashua, is also participating in NH Energy Week. He says "Long term investment in the economy is very important. We want to grow and continue. The best way to do that is to make products efficiently, to use less energy and create less waste.”
