Mega Millions Jackpot Generates $6.6M in NH Sales

The Mega Millions jackpot run officially came to a close when a lucky Illinois player purchased a $1.337 billion winning ticket for the drawing on Friday, July 29, but not before the Mega Millions frenzy generated more than $6.6 million in sales in NH.

During the jackpot run, the NH Lottery sold the second-most Mega Millions tickets per capita of the 47 lottery jurisdictions that sell the game nationwide. New Hampshire players purchased $5.6 million in Mega Millions tickets, while players purchased another $1 million through NH iLottery, the online sales platform, which saw more than 10,000 new players sign up just last month.

Mega Millions held 29 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner between April 15 and July 29, and NH players purchased more than $13 million in Mega Millions tickets during the run. Over the course of the run, NH retailers earned more than $650,000 in sales commissions through Mega Millions ticket sales, including more than $300,000 last week alone.

While the $1.337 billion winning ticket was sold in Illinois, a lucky NH player purchased a $1 million winning Mega Millions ticket at a Market Basket on South Broadway in Salem for the July 29 drawing. The winning ticket matched all five numbers, excluding the Mega Ball to win the $1 million prize.

“This Mega Millions run was quite the ride for us and our players – it’s not every day you have a chance to win over $1 billion dollars! We are thrilled to have generated more than $6.6 million in Mega Millions sales just last week, which is instrumental in supporting our mission of maximizing revenue for New Hampshire education,” said Charlie McIntyre, Executive Director, New Hampshire Lottery. “Thanks to our players for making this jackpot run one of the most exciting in recent memory and we congratulate our lucky players from last Friday’s drawing, including our $1 million winner."

In addition to the $1 million prize winner during the July 29 drawing, Circle K in Tilton sold a $20,000 winning Mega Millions ticket and a $10,000 winning Mega Bucks ticket was sold at Shaw’s in Hampton.

The winning Mega Millions numbers from Friday, July 29, were: 13-36-45-57-67 MB-14 with a Megaplier of 2.

The $1.337 billion Mega Millions jackpot became the 3rd largest U.S. Lottery jackpot of all time. The top 10 U.S. Lottery jackpots in history were:
