Steve Vaillancourt, state representative for Ward 8 in Manchester, has died. He was serving his 10th term in NH House at the time of his death and was member of the House Finance Committee.

Born and raised in Vermont, Vaillancourt graduated Summa Cum Laude from Plymouth State College in 1974 with a B.A. in History. Prior to being elected as a state representative, he was a Manchester alderman for Ward 8.

Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas says Vaillancourt "loved Manchester and he was always proud to call the Queen City his home. He will be remembered for his tenacity and his ability to convincingly articulate his position on the issues he was passionate about.  It was honor to work with [him] and call him my friend. He will be missed.”

According to the Union Leader, House Speaker Shawn Jasper (R-Hudson) says Vaillancourt was "an outstanding orator and a man who was certainly dedicated to his principles." Jasper added that he will "pass along any details of any funeral arrangements as they become available."
