Lori Harnois Named to NH Union Leader's 40 Under Forty

Published Wednesday Feb 1, 2012

New Hampshire Division of Travel and Tourism Development Director Lori Harnois was named to the class of 2012 for the Union Leader's 40 under Forty program. The NH Union Leader and UnionLeader.com profiled 40 NH leaders in its Monday business section earlier this week.

It's an honor to be included in this group, said Harnois. We have done some good work over the past year here at the Division of Travel and Tourism Development, but it wouldn't have been possible without the hard work of my staff, our partners, and the tourism industry in New Hampshire.

Recognizing those under 40 was a program launched by the Union Leader and the Business and Industry Association of NH in 2002. Almost 400 members now belong to this exclusive club. Harnois joins a group that has also honored former Attorney General and now U.S. Sentaor Kelly Ayotte (2002), Major League baseball pitcher Chris Carpenter (2002), and Olympic skier Bode Miller (2003).

Candidates are nominated by others who must identify how the nominee has contributed to their field, community or NH. The nominee must also demonstrate how they will do so in years to come.

Harnois has spent almost 15 years in the tourism industry, including 10 as the International and Domestic marketing manager of the Division of Travel and Tourism Development before taking the helm as director in 2011. She has also taught tourism courses at Plymouth State University and the New Hampshire Technical Institute as an adjunct professor, and she was recently appointed to the board of Stay, Work, Play.

A reception honoring the 2012 40 under Forty class will take place March 13, 2012.
