League of NH Craftsmen Receives $50,000 Gift from Lincoln Financial

Published Friday Jul 15, 2011

The League of NH Craftsmen recently received $50,000 from the Lincoln Financial Foundation to support education programs that will occur in the League's new Craft Center and headquarters, which will be located in the SMILE! building on 49 South Main Street in Concord, across the street from the Capitol Center for the Arts.

The gift was made to the League's capital campaign, called Craft Our Future: A Commitment to Handcrafted Excellence, which was announced in April to raise funds for the League's new Craft Center and headquarters, educational programming, and technology.

"The League of NH Craftsmen is a flagship Granite State arts organization, and Lincoln Foundation is pleased to be able to support its expanded educational programs and the move to modern headquarters on Main Street," said Byron Champlin, assistant vice president and program officer for the Lincoln Foundation. "We hope that this will be a stimulus to the creative economy in Greater Concord, and an important job-training resource for up-and-coming craftspeople."

"Education is a vital part of our mission to support and encourage the creation and preservation of fine craft," said League Executive Director Susie Lowe-Stockwell.

The League of NH Craftsmen Craft Center and headquarters facility will have its grand opening on October 27. Along with demonstration and classroom areas, the facility has an exhibition gallery, a Permanent Collection Museum (with fine craft spanning from the early 1920s to present day acquisitions), a library and archives room with technology and resources about craft, a multi-purpose room with a business resource center, and staff offices.
