Jewell Towne Recognized for a Gem of a Wine

Published Tuesday Dec 9, 2008

Author RACHAEL BROWN

Jewell Towne Vineyards, an award-winning winery in South Hampton, was recently mentioned in a September issue of Time Magazine. In an article titled 50 States of Wine, a wine was selected from each state, tasted and reviewed. Wines from only 11 states received the reviewer's highest rating, a score of excellent. One of those 11 chosen included a 2007 Valvin Muscat from Jewell Towne Vineyard.

According to the article's author, Joel Stein, Jewell Towne's Valvin Muscat was sweet but balanced, with some nice mineral on the finish, like a good Riesling. It's not a wine that's trying too hard or is too proud of itself. It just gets the job done right. This is one of the very few wines we drank the whole bottle of. Who knew New Hampshire was better at picking grapes than Democratic nominees?

The complete article and state-by-state reviews can be found online at www.time.com/wine. Jewell Towne has received other national accolades, including previous mentions in Yankee Magazine and the Boston Globe.
