HiSoftware is the fourth software company President and CEO Kurt Mueffelmann has led and, based on his track record, HiSoftware will not slow down. He grew a Manchester-based accounting software firm from $5 million to $12 million in revenue in under three years before selling it. Another fast-track company he led in Massachusetts caught the attention of Bottomline Technologies in Portsmouth, which bought it. HiSoftware was a flat company when I came in 2005. In 2007 and 2008, we built the technology from the ground up and it really started to grow, Mueffelmann says.
HiSoftware now has offices in Melbourne, Australia; Redmond, Washington and Washington D.C., and has amassed an impressive client roster that includes JP Morgan Chase, Raytheon, AIG, the University of Minnesota and a variety of federal government agencies. Customers can purchase the compliance and security software outright or pay for annual subscriptions.

A lot of our growth was based around the federal government-about 40 percent of our total business, he says, adding the company is self-funded. We're ahead of last year. We have exciting new products expanding into the security space, including securing information on mobile devices. The company is also considering some strategic acquisitions.
HiSoftware has won many awards for its products including the KMWorld Trend Setting Product of 2011 and 2012, Corporate Integrity's 2012 GRC Technology Innovation Award.
