Conventional wisdom is people just don't like to talk about death, but Buddy Phaneuf of Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium and The Cremation Society of NH is challenging that notion with a new radio talk show. He is hosting a weekly radio show on 107.7 FM, The Pulse, which started Sept. 13. “Dying to Talk” will be a lighthearted look at topics no one wants to talk about.

The show will air Saturday mornings from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., with a rebroadcast on Sundays starting at 6:30 am. It will run for 52 weeks. Hosted by Phaneuf, the show will offer a different discussion topic each week, with guests appearing as well. Topics will include cremation; veterans funeral and burial benefits; the role of medical examiners; the growth of non-traditional funerals; and religious customs and traditions of Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims and other religions.

“This show is very unique,” says Phaneuf. “I don’t think there are many, if any, radio talk shows like this hosted by a funeral director. We want to offer people the opportunity to talk about some things that they might shy away from, or find difficult to discuss. We’ll do this with a touch of humor.”

Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium is one of the oldest continually-owned family funeral homes in NH and is a large provider of funeral services in the state.
