Downtown Nashua Looks to Launch Own Web Site

Published Monday Nov 10, 2008

Great American Downtown, an organization focused on Nashua's downtown, has announced plans for a new downtown Web site.

"Our staff has spent countless hours talking face to face with our local merchants asking them what they felt was needed to bring more people downtown. The number one response: marketing," said Sue Butler, executive director for Great American Downtown. In response to that feedback, the organization began development of a strategic marketing plan for the city's downtown. The plan, which will be unveiled in stages over the next 12 months, includes reaching out to the entire metro area by using various mass media campaigns, hosting events, and creating guidebooks.

Great American Downtown is an organization that seeks to provide coordination, collaboration and partnerships that unify the entire Nashua community around a common vision for a vibrant and viablen downtown.

The first step in this project, according to Butler, was to maximize the use of the current downtown Web site. "People are deciding where they will go to shop and dine based on information they find on the Internet. It seemed only logical to make our site as user-friendly and attractive as possible," she said.

While the old site was focused on just the organization, the new site will focus on downtown businesseses. A new domain name, look and feel will convey where to shop, dine and play downtown when the site launches later this month.
