Dartmouth-Hitchcock CMC Merger Off the Table

Published Friday Mar 11, 2011

A press release e-mailed to the press on Thursday announced that attempts to merge the two hospitals is now off the table.

The boards of trustees for Catholic Medical Center in Manchester and Dartmouth-Hitchcock in Hanover authorized a withdrawal from the Hillsborough County Probate Court and filing, which requested approval for the two parties' proposed affiliation.

The press release cited the evolving changes in health care reforms that have prompted CMC and Dartmouth-Hitchcock to reevaluate the nature of the proposed affiliation and reassure the public of their priorities.

"Dartmouth-Hitchcock and CMC remain fully committed to providing the highest quality health care services for the people of greater Manchester," said Alyson Pitman Giles, president and CEO of Catholic Medical Center, and Dr. Thomas A. Colacchio, president of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health. "Our teams are staying focused on the programs we know will expand access and services to our patients."

According to the release, the two organizations will continue to pursue collaborative efforts and shared programs, as they have for over six years. "We are very proud of our teams that work together at CMC's Special Care Nursery and Dartmouth-Hitchcock's Norris Cotton Cancer Center in Manchester. Whether it is medical expertise, state-of-the-art technology, or convenient service for our patients, CMC and Dartmouth-Hitchcock are working together to make it available to the community."
