Chuck Morse Re-elected as NH Senate President

Published Friday Nov 11, 2016

The Senate Republican Majority unanimously chose Senator Chuck Morse (R-Salem) to return as president of the NH Senate during the 2017-18 legislative session. He was first elected the 128th president of the state Senate in September 2013. Since the founding of the Senate in 1784, he is the fourth lawmaker from Salem to lead it.

“I am proud to support Senator Chuck Morse to return as New Hampshire Senate President for the upcoming legislative session,” says Sen. Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro). “Senator Morse has also successfully led the legislature in growing our State’s Rainy Day Fund by $130 million, and cutting taxes for small businesses which has spurred job growth and increased revenues for our state.”

He was a leader in the effort to secure funding to complete the Interstate 93 expansion project. He also previously chaired the Finance Committee through three budgets.

Prior to his service with the Senate, Morse spent two terms in the NH House of Representatives representing Salem and Windham. In 2006, he was the Republican nominee for Executive Council for the state's Third District. He has also served his local community as both town moderator and selectman.
