Boys & Girls Club Thinks Judgement Free

Planet Fitness continued to extend its judgement free philosophy outside of its gyms by unveiling a mini Planet Fitness, housed within the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem.

The fitness facility, constructed by Salem-based Planet Fitness franchise Taymax Group Holdings, will provide thousands of youth each year with the ability to exercise in an inclusive and encouraging workout environment, without the risk of feeling judged.

The new fitness center was unveiled at a ribbon-cutting celebration on October 17, 2019, with Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem youth and staff, Taymax CEO Tim Kelleher, Planet Fitness CEO Chris Rondeau, and additional Planet Fitness team members. The new fitness center, featuring eight pieces of cardio and strength equipment, replicates the judgement free environment of Planet Fitness gyms, complete with the brand’s signature purple and yellow colors and inspirational messages highlighted on the walls.

To date, Planet Fitness and its franchisees have built more than 25 fitness centers within Boys & Girls Clubs across the country. This is the second such project in NH, with the country’s first Mini Judgement Free Zone fitness center opening at the Boys & Girls Club of Manchester in 2016.

The unveiling is part of the company’s national philanthropic initiative, The Judgement Free Generation, which aims to spread kindness and end bullying faced by youth today. The company has funded trainings for staff and teen leaders from Boys & Girls Clubs across the country and endows a scholarship program which recognizes young people who spread kindness and acceptance in their communities. To date, Planet Fitness has contributed more than $5 million in support of this cause.
